The second edition of Dr. Pang’s wonderful text, Multicultural Education, provides excellent theoretical foundations and practical implementation strategies for caring-centered multicultural educators. The book is easy to read because Pang integrates the stories of many teachers that give life to educational theories. Unlike other multicultural education books, Pang discusses culture and culturally relevant teaching in depth. The newest edition of this text develops more fully ideas expressed in the earlier version, as well as discussing issues such as Title IX, Human Indian mascots, and bilingual education which were not covered before. This text is excellent as a stand alone in courses on multicultural education. I also recommend it as a supplemental text for any undergraduate or graduate class which focuses on creating a caring-centered environment in classrooms and communities.
